Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  2. Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
  3. Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  4. Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  5. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  6. Check the quality of ingredients
  7. Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
  8. Portioning products when received and ensuring the right portion is issued to the customer.
  9. Labeling products and checking on expiry dates.
  10. Ensure that any product leaving the kitchen has a docket.
  11. Maintain good quality of production.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Proven experience as a cook
  2. Experience in using cutting tools, cookware
  3. Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  4. Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  5. Ability to work in a team
  6. Very good communication skills
  7. Excellent physical condition and stamina
  8. High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage.
